Saving, exporting and sharing boards

Boards save by themselves. Export them as images or a board file, or share a read-only link.

Autosave

  • A board saves by itself a moment after every change. The top bar shows Unsaved changes, Saving and then Saved.
  • Press Ctrl + S to save straight away.
  • If the connection drops, the top bar shows Offline, retrying, and the board saves as soon as it is back. Keep the tab open until it says Saved.
  • Undo and redo (Ctrl + Z and Ctrl + Y) work for everything you did since you opened the board.

When someone else changed the board

  • Two people can open the same board. Each save checks that nobody else saved in between, so no work is overwritten without you knowing.
  • If someone did, a banner says who changed it and offers two buttons.
  • Reload theirs opens their version. Your changes since your last save are dropped.
  • Keep mine saves your version over theirs. Their changes since then are replaced.
  • To keep both, export yours first (Download the board file), click Reload theirs, then open your file from the board menu: it is added beside theirs.

Export

  • Click Export in the top bar, or open the board menu at the top left.
  • PNG image: a picture of the whole board, for slides, emails and documents.
  • SVG image: a sharp image that stays crisp at any size, for design tools and websites.
  • Board file (.json): everything on the board, including images, to keep as a backup or to add to another board.
  • To add a board file to a board, open the board menu and click Open a board file. What it holds is added beside your drawing, never over it.
  • To copy part of a board as an image, select it and press Shift + Alt + C, then paste it anywhere.

Turn sharing off

  • Click Share, then Turn sharing off. The link stops working at once for everyone.
  • Sharing again makes a new link. The old one never works again.
  • Shared boards show Shared on the Board page.
